WASHINGTON, D.C. - A preliminary federal review of a marina application for Shangri La has identified impacts from the proposed dredging as well as volume and placement of watercraft slips in Davis Cove.

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission recently advised the Grand River Dam Authority to file additional information describing the feasibility of any alternative actions to prevent potential impacts to the cove.

Suggested alternatives included an assessment of alternative locations for the proposed slips, according to FERC, as well as an increase in the number of slips and possible reconfiguration of the marina proposed at Shangri-La Point.

GRDA has 15 days from Jan. 17 to provide a response that includes appropriate maps, property surveys, aerial photography, and inspection reports.
