For the 57th year, the agriculture department at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College will welcome students to the Agriculture Interscholastic Contest - known to many as “Aggie Days.”

The contest will begin April 1 and continue thruough April 5.

Elementary and high school students from the four-state area will travel to Miami to compete in the sweepstakes-style contest. The contest is open to any student who is a member of 4-H or Future Farmers of America.

“Those who participate fall within a wide age bracket, typically from third graders to seniors in high school,” said Shannon Cunningham, agriculture instructor and equine judging coach. “Students will compete in a wide range of agriculture-related categories as varied as farm business management and landscaping. This event occurs just before students will compete in district and state contests, so it is an excellent opportunity to refine their skills.”

Cunningham said Aggie Days is also a recruiting tool for NEO. “This event brings an interested audience right to our doorstep,” Cunningham said.  “Many of those students who participate in Aggie Days will eventually become students at NEO.”

The 200-acre NEO farm and the Equine Center-Multipurpose Arena is located one mile east of campus on Rockdale Boulevard.
