A red flag warning is effective until 7 p.m. today for Ottawa and Delaware counties and more than a dozen more northeast Oklahoma counties.

A red flag warning means dangerous conditions exist that are creating wildfire growth potential. Conditions include sustained winds averaging at least 20 mph, relative humidity of 20 percent or less and a temperature of more than 65 degrees Fahrenheit.

Officials predict wind speeds today to be 15 to 25 mph, gusting to 30 mph. Relative humidity will be below 25 percent, causing dangerous fire conditions.

Additional counties under the red flag warning are Adair, Cherokee, Craig, Creek, Mayes, McIntosh, Muskogee, Nowata, Okfuskee, Okmulgee, Osage, , Pawnee, Rogers, Tulsa, Wagoner and Washington counties.
