Two Ottawa County residents were injured Saturday in a single-car accident near Quapaw.
Kaleb Hogner, 26, of Miami and Terry Shelton, 22, of Quapaw were traveling south on Highway 69, three miles north of Quapaw at 3:30 a.m. when the vehicle left the east side of the roadway.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the 2000 Ford Focus, driven by Hogner, struck a ditch and overturned one and one-quarter time, landing on the passenger side.
Shelton was ejected 52 feet from the point of rest. He was airlifted to Joplin in poor condition.
Hogner was treated and released from a Joplin hospital.
In a separate incident, a Wyandotte woman suffered serious injuries after a Saturday accident near Joplin, Mo.
Kelly Benson, 48, was driving east on McClelland Street, according to authorities, when her 1999 Chevrolet left the right side of the roadway and overturned. She was not wearing a seatbelt, according to the accident report.
