Authorities believe arson may have been the cause of a house fire that damaged a K Street NW home in Miami.

According to a police report, officers were called to the unoccupied residence shortly before 5 p.m. Thursday.

“Upon arrival I made contact with Ronnie Ross (a Miami firefighter),” said Miami Police Officer Jeffery Frazier. “He turned over a pair of wire framed sunglasses that he found outside the northwest corner of the residence.”

Ross said the utilities were not on at the residence and firefighters discovered a charring spot on the floor in the southwest room of the house.

Officials say the evidence indicates the possible use of an accelerant.
