An alleged hostage situation at the Iron Horse Resort has resulted in the death of a Grove man.
Jimmy Davis, approximately 64 years old, was pronounced dead at the scene from a gunshot wound.
According to law enforcement officers, a 911 call was received between 9:30 and 9:45 a.m. Wednesday from the alleged victim, Vicki Davis, 57. Officers responded to the Davis home located at the Iron Horse Resort, south and east of Grove.
Delaware County Sheriff's Department officers, the Special Response Team and investigators with the Delaware County District Attorney's 0ffice responded to the call, along with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol who sent a hostage negotiator.
When officers arrived at the scene they interviewed Vicki Davis, wife of Jimmy Davis, and were told that her husband had been holding her hostage at gunpoint since 4 a.m. She told officers she managed to escape and call for help, although she was inside the house when they arrived.
She received a call from the responding officers who told her to exit the house.
Once outside, she told officers her husband was in the home with a weapon. During a search of the house, officers found Jimmy Davis dead in a bedroom from a single gunshot wound. A .357-caliber pistol was recovered in the residence. Authorities believe Jimmy Davis took his own life.
Vicki Davis was taken into custody after investigators discovered she had felony outstanding warrants for her arrest on bogus check charges from Jasper County, Mo. After she was incarcerated, it was discovered she also has a felony outstanding arrest warrant for bogus checks in Delaware County.
She is not currently a suspect in the death of Jimmy Davis, but the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation has been brought in to investigate the incident.
