A gospel music concert to raise funds for The Harbor, displaced after the summer floods, will help kick off the Easter season activities.

Scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday at the Coleman Theatre, the concert will star Duane Collins, a performer and gospel music writer, and his family.

The concert is being held in place of the traditional Holy Week services sponsored by the Ottawa County Ministerial Alliance.

The First Assembly of God Church at 1815 E. Steve Owens Blvd. in Miami will provide a multi-media event for the Easter season at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the church.

Childcare will be provided at each performance.

Saturday's performance will dismiss in time to attend the Ministerial Alliance fund-raiser.

Over the next 10 days there are a wide array of Easter egg hunts and other activities in the area.

Easter activities scheduled are:

March 16

Bethany Christian Church, 2127 N. Main in Miami, will have a sandwich and salad luncheon following the 10:45 a.m. service and follow that with an Easter egg hunt.

First Baptist Church in Wyandotte will have lunch on the grounds beginning at noon followed by an Easter egg hunt.

New Life Church of the Nazarene, 2025 E. Central in Miami, will have lunch following the worship service followed by pony rides, inflatables and an egg hunt.

March 22

First Assembly of God, 1815 E. Steve Owens Blvd. in Miami, will have a communitywide Easter egg hunt at10 a.m. In addition, there will be inflatable toys for the children's amusement. Bring a basket or other container.

First Free Will Baptist Church of Miami will have a Resurrection Easter Egg Hunt at 2 p.m. at Rotary Park, west of Miami City Hall, for children through 9 years old.

Mt. Zion Baptist Church, seven miles west of Cardin on East 30 Road, will have its annual Easter egg hunt at 2 p.m.

Dollar General in Commerce will have an Easter egg hunt from 11 a.m. to noon for children ages 1 to 5 and from 1 to 2 p.m. for children ages 6 to 10. Donations will be accepted for the Illiteracy Fund.

Twin Bridges State Park will have an Easter egg hunt at 11 a.m.

Welch Kappa Nu is sponsoring an Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. on the Welch Elementary playground. It is for children up to second grade.

Through March 22

Joplin Museum Complex will hold its traditional Easter egg hunt by distributing special ballots to children 12 and under to log stone Easter eggs they discover throughout the buildings. Prizes and Easter baskets will be given.

March 23

A community Easter egg hunt will begin at 2 p.m. at the Grove Sports Complex for children to age 12.

Churches in the Miami area will hold a variety of services during the next 10 days.

March 16

An Easter program will be held at New Hope Christian Church, 2221 Rockdale in Miami, at 10:30 a.m.

New Life Church of the Nazarene, 2025 E. Central in Miami, will re-enact the triumphant entry of Jesus with a live donkey during the 10:45 a.m. service.

March 17-22

Sacred Heart Catholic Church will have Holy Week services Monday through March 21 including Priest Day of Prayer and Chism Mass Tuesday, Lent Mass and washing of feet at 7 p.m. Thursday, Lent Mass at 7 p.m. March 21 and at 5 and 8 p.m. March 22.

Hispanic Masses are 6 and 9 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 10 p.m. March 22.

March 20

The First Presbyterian Church in Miami will have a congregational dinner at 6 p.m. followed by a worship service including communion in memory of the Last Supper.

Bethany Christian Church will host a Maundy Thursday worship service at 7 p.m.

March 20 and 21

First United Methodist Church, 200 B St. NW in Miami, will gather at 6:30 p.m. Thursday for a Passover meal. Reservations required. It will be followed by a service and communion. There will be another service at 7:15 p.m. Good Friday.

March 20-23

Mount Olive Lutheran Church will have Holy Week services including Maundy Thursday service at 7 p.m., a Good Friday Tenebrae service at 7 p.m., an Easter Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. and a 10:30 a.m. worship service with Holy Communion.

March 21-23

First Baptist Church of Miami will hold its Good Friday service at 7 p.m. and its Easter Sunday service at 10:30 a.m. Both services will be held in the Coleman Theatre.

March 23

First Baptist Church of North Miami will have a Sunrise service at 6:30 a.m. at O.J. and Mabel Allman's property. For directions, call 675-4856

First Baptist Church of Wyandotte will have an Easter Sunrise service at 6:45 a.m. at Parmley's farm.

First Freewill Baptist Church will have a Sunrise service at 7 a.m. A pancake and sausage breakfast will be served immediately following.

Mount Zion Baptist Church, seven miles west of Cardin on East 30 Road, will have an Easter Sunrise service at 7 a.m. followed by breakfast cooked by the men of the church.

Southeast Baptist Church of Miami will have Sunrise services at 7 a.m. in the old pavilion at Riverview Park. It will be followed by breakfast at the church.
