A convicted sex offender and substance abuser is back behind bars after he made threats toward his parole officer.
Joseph Patrick Grant, 49, has an eight-year history of convictions in Oklahoma and Missouri. He was released from the Missouri Department of Corrections on Aug. 6, 2005, and is currently under the supervision of Oklahoma Department of Corrections.
A week ago, several witnesses informed Grant's parole officer that he had acquired a handgun and bowie knife.
“Several informants reported drug activity as well as Grant possibly having weapons at the residence,” said probation and parole officer Eric McAffrey.
Authorities conducted a search of Grant's Ottawa County residence Tuesday.
While there, law authorities discovered a syringe and spoon with a white powder residue. The residue later field-tested positive for Methamphetamine.
Grant is back behind bars on a $31,000 bond.
District Attorney Eddie Wyant charged Grant with possession of methamphetamine and possession of paraphernalia.
If convicted, he could receive a life sentence.
