WYANDOTTE — A Wyandotte woman was killed in a three-vehicle crash at 7:45 a.m. Monday, Dec. 7.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, Alexys Crawford, 20, Wyandotte was killed in the crash on Oklahoma Highway 10 approximately 1.6 miles northeast of Wyandotte.
Crawford, who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt that was traveling northbound on Highway 10, was pronounced dead at the scene by Quapaw Nation EMS due to massive injuries.
A second vehicle, a 2015 Dodge Durango driven by Andrea Buzzard, 35 of Wyandotte, also was involved. She was transported to Freeman Hospital in Joplin by Quapaw Nation EMS. She was treated and released with leg injuries.
The OHP report said Crawford attempted to turn east on a county road and swerved to avoid a flatbed truck, crossed the center line and collided head on with Buzzard’s vehicle.
The OHP reported that the collision is under investigation.
Trooper Chris Garner of the Ottawa County Detachment of Troop L investigated. He was assisted by Trooper Roy Parker of Troop S, Trooper Jack Rhinehart of the Will Rogers Turnpike Division, the Wyandotte Nation Police Department, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, the Wyandotte Fire Department and Quapaw Nation EMS.
