Elmer Thomas Cook died Saturday, May 16, 2020. He was born October 29, 1938 to Elzie Cook and Goldie (Rhodes) Cook in Grove, Oklahoma. He grew up in rural Wyandotte helping on the farm. After attending school at Turkey Ford and Grove High School he was a welder mostly on pipelines and opened Grove Muffler in 1988. He met and married Catherine Killingsworth and they had two sons, Terry and Randy. He was always ready to weld on anything anyone needed repaired.
Elmer loved fishing and hunting and indulged in these sports as often as possible. The highlights of his life were the years he was able to hunt elk in Colorado and Oklahoma.
He married Connie in 1991 and they had many great trips hunting and exploring this country and the world. His favorite trip was a safari in Kenya, Africa.
Elmer was a member of the First Christian Church in Grove, and though quiet about his faith, he loved the Lord and found comfort in his last years reading the Bible.
Elmer is survived by his wife, Connie; brother, Charles, and sister Kay (Keith) Fields all of Grove: two sons: Terry (Larena) Cook of Grove, and Randy (Angelic) Cook of Tulsa; two step sons: Doug (DeAnna) Lietzke of S. Carolina, and Mark (Stephanie) Lietzke of Owasso; seven grandchildren: Logan, Amanda, Chaise (Bailey Burleson), Emily, Brandon, Ben and Max; three step-grandchildren: Ryan, Janson and Jaden; and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, May 22, 2020, at the First Christian Church, 102 W. 4th St., Grove, OK
