Betty Lou Stratton, age 89 passed from this life Sunday, March 22, 2010 in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Betty was born in Douthat, Oklahoma on July 7, 1930 to Lewis and Virginia (Pace) Baker. All of her formative years were spent growing up in Picher, Oklahoma. This is where she met the love of her life and future husband Dudley Dean Stratton. They were wed January 29, 1949 and remained married for 56 years until the passing of Dudley in 2005.

Betty’s true calling was being a wife, mother and homemaker. She took great pride in her home, but her greatest joy came from raising her two sons and Sister Darlene (Cobb) Higginbotham. Her Godly spirit always gave them direction and her love was unconditional.

Betty loved to do all kinds of needlework winning numerous blue ribbons at the local fair, she blessed family members with beaded Christmas stockings and each grandchild, niece and nephew with crocheted blankets. She would also crochet sock caps, gloves and blankets for the newborns at the hospital. She was an avid reader, loved autobiographies and spending time watching old movies. She was a fabulous cook and would start preparing days in advance for the holiday meals.

Betty’s grandchildren and great grandchildren brought her so much joy. Each has cherished memories of the time spent with her. She would say they all made her life worth living.

She was a member of the First Christian Church in Miami. Betty loved the Lord and her actions reflected that love.
