MIAMI — Jeanne Fleming, owner of Security Bank & Trust of Miami, was named the recipient of the Impact Award at the Miami Regional Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala Thursday, March 5.

“Thank you all of you wonderful people,” Fleming told the audience of more than 350 at the Buffalo Run Casino and Resort Peoria Showplace.

The Impact Award is the MRCC’s top award and recognizes excellence in Ottawa County.

Fleming, 96, moved to Miami with her husband, the late Jeff Haney, in 1983, after they purchased the bank.

After his death in 1988, she began to serve as chairman of the board and attended loan committee meetings.

Until recently, she continued to carry on those dual roles with the bank.

She has assisted numerous projects in and around Miami.

Kaci Hoffer was named the recipient of the second annual Mark Rogers Volunteer of the year award.

Hoffer has been heavily involved with the Teacher’s Tool Box and Angel Tree projects.

New Business of the Year — Lucky 7 Firewooded Pizza

Non-profit of the Year — Miami Arts and Humanities Council

Excellence in Education — Norma Qualls, Miami Public Schools.

Other nominees for the various awards included Sodexo and Brown Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Business of the Year; Express RX and Solid Rock Realtors, Susan Rhodes Group, Small Business of the Year; Hot Rod Central and NEO Wellness Center, New Business of the Year; Miami Animal Welfare and Adoption and CASA, Non-Profit of the Year, and Calvin Becker of Northeastern Oklahoma A&M and Donna Victor, Northeast Technology Center.
