Voters in Miami passed a $19.03 million bond issue Tuesday, May 14.

Of 1,193 total votes, there were 780 yes (65.38 percent) compared to 413 no.

The money from Proposition 1 will fund an addition and renovation of the current Miami High School building, which was completed in 1969, so seventh and eighth graders currently at Will Rogers Middle School can be moved there.

Proposition 2 was for $1.2 million and will allow the purchase of new buses.

The current WRMS was built in 1947.

At Fairland, a $4.97 million bond issue on May 14 that would be used for a student activity center, tornado shelter/classroom addition and improvements to the elementary gymnasium failed by only three votes: 200 no and 197 yes.
