Gerald Wayne Culver, 78, died suddenly at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, on Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015, from a cardiac event caused by cancer. He was born Sept. 4, 1937, in Craig County, Okla., and graduated from Fairland High School in 1955. He married Cora Mae Rooney on June 13, 1958, in Commerce, Okla. Gerald attended Northeast Oklahoma A&M College, studying engineering. He retired from Waterloo Industries after over 30 years of service. He was a long-standing member of Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls, serving as a deacon, a trustee and participating in mission work worldwide.
Gerald lived a long and full life. He was an avid outdoorsman and an advocate for the environment. To his family and those whose lives he touched, he leaves a legacy of simple virtues. The codes he taught were the codes he lived by. Gerald spoke the truth, he kept his promises, and he lived with a quiet strength, a healthy sense of humor and respect for God.
