Cora Mae Culver, 79 of Waterloo, Iowa, went to be with our Lord on November 16, 2018, at Ravenwood Specialty Care where she was being cared for after her stroke in 2014.
Cora Mae was born October 18, 1939, in Ashdown, Arkansas to Bill and Eula (Green) Rooney. After graduation from Commerce High School in 1958 she married her soulmate, Gerald Wayne Culver on June 13, 1958. She attended Northeast OK A&M College studying business. Her business was sales and people were her passion. She worked her way up to Home Office Vice President at Jewels by Parklane winning many awards over 30 years. She then worked another 10 years at Dillard’s.
Gerald and Cora spenttheir retirement winters in Arizona where she worked at the Country store and attended writing classes. Born in poverty Cora determined to live a full and successful life. Baptized at age seven and called to missions at age 28, Cora’s love of the lord called her to spread His Gospel to everyone she encountered. The ripples she started became great waves of His love saving many souls all over the world still to this day. Through these many gifts, her strong spirit, work ethic and the love of her family live on.
Cora and Gerald were preceded in death by their parents; their siblings: Diane, Gail, Adel, Boyd and Leon. They are survived by their children: Jerry (LouAnn) Culver of Waterloo, Krista Culver of Waterloo, Andrew (Ann) Pham Family of Chicago and Tony (Ruth) Kiako Family of Des Moines; Cora’s sister, Sandra Kay Renfro of McAlester, Oklahoma and Gerald’s brothers, Cecil Culver of Houston, Harold (Barbara) Culver of Palos Verdes Estates, Califonia, and Dale (Shirley) Culver of Miami, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and the families they adopted through the years.
