A good parade delights the senses and brings good cheer with colorful floats, marching bands, antique cars, horse riders, and a string of entries depicting a community's holiday spirit.
Christmas parades will be held at Picher, Quapaw, Commerce and Miami on Dec. 1, Fairland and Grove on Dec. 8 and Afton on Dec. 15.
The fourth annual Picher Christmas Parade, organized by the Picher Reunion Committee, will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1.It will run from A Street and run to Fourth Street.
The annual Quapaw Christmas Parade starts at noon on Dec. 1 at the north end of town by the Quapaw Schools and runs through downtown Quapaw.
The Commerce Christmas Parade starts at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 marching down Commerce Avenue from Main Street to Cedar.
Miami's “ Downtown Charlie Brown” Christmas Parade is set to start at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 1 with the theme of beloved characters from Charlie Brown's Christmas special by Charles Schultz.
The parade route follows Route 66 down Miami's Main Street through the downtown area.
The Fairland Christmas Parade starts at noon on Saturday, Dec. 8 with the theme of “Downtown Charlie Brown Christmas,” and travels down Fairland's downtown.
A Fairland Christmas Bazaar is also scheduled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec 8. at the Fairland Fire Department the same day as Christmas Parade with crafts, wood work, items for Christmas gifts, etc. Pictures with Santa will be offered after the parade, and a homemade chicken noodle luncheon, along with drawing for many prizes.
The Grove Christmas Parade starts at 6 p.m. on Dec. 8 and winds through Grove’s downtown and business area.
The Town of Afton's Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting a Christmas parade at 6 p.m. on Dec. 15. The Christmas parade will start the line up at the Afton Schools. The parade will travel down Afton's Main Street. Santa will stop at the Afton Fire Barn and at this time children can visit there with Santa and Mrs. Claus.
