FAIRLAND – A 14 year-old Glenpool teenage boy was struck by a vehicle while walking along a county road near Fairland on Saturday.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol's report, at 8:13 p.m. on Nov. 3 a 2004 Chevy Impala driven by Taylor Ostrum, 18, of Fairland pulled into a private drive at 61201 East 193 Road, approximately three and a half miles east and four tenths of a mile south of Fairland in Ottawa County.
Ostrum accidentally struck the Glenpool teen who was walking, according to OHP.
The Glenpool teen was transported by the Quapaw Nation EMS to Freeman Memorial Hospital in Joplin and was admitted in critical condition with head, arm, and external and internal trunk injuries.
The condition of the driver is listed as apparently normal and the cause of the collision as under investigation.
The weather is listed as cloudy and dry at the time of the event.
The collision was investigated Oklahoma Highway Patrol's Troop L Detachment Trooper Garner and assisted by Trooper Stinnett, and OHP Delaware County Detachment Trooper Konemann, the Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Fairland Police Department, Fairland Fire Department, Quapaw Nation EMS, GRDA and Wyandotte Nation Police.
