Head over to the Fairland Farmers Market Saturday to get your pick of more than 10 varieties of locally grown tomatoes.
The weekend we've all been waiting for – local vine-ripened tomatoes! We have three Fairland-area vendors with more than 10 varieties, some now ripe and some green. It's not a flood of tomatoes (yet) but we'll likely have them for the first hour. Also get your cucumbers, green beans, summer squash and first harvests of okra as summer starts up in earnest. Spring crops like carrots, beets, turnips, kale, and swiss chard are also still available.
The Fairland Farmers Market is open from 8-11 a.m. every Saturday through the growing season, located near the Family Dollar parking lot (~50 N. Pine St.) in Fairland. The Market accepts Senior Farmers Market benefits, Debit and Credit cards, SNAP benefits, and can even double SNAP for up to $20 in free fruits and vegetables. For more info about the Market contact firstname.lastname@example.org or 918-676-1040.
