Some 31 area students were counted among over 1,000 seniors who marked their graduation from Epic Charter School this weekend.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Thirty-one students from area towns were among 1,299 graduating seniors as Epic Charter School held its commencement ceremony Saturday, June 2, at the Cox Convention Center.
Area students who graduated were:
Afton — Akiesha Wood, Alexis Harvey, Alexis Hitchcock, Ashley Reynolds and Makayla Bandy.
Bluejacket — Shelby McClintick and Summer Matthews
Commerce — Alexis McKibben, Cheyenne Harrell and Nikki Smith
Miami — Caisson Neal, Cassidy Wagoner, Chase Johnston, Dillan Wagner, Hannah Boyce, Jett Munson, Justus Washburn, Katrena Horton, Leslie Garcia, Madison Holden, Michael Brown, Natalie Corder, Reannah Blair, Robbie Johns, Ryleigh Rogers, Taylor Slover and Tyler Griffith
Quapaw — Shaina Smith
Welch — Kasey Bailey
Wyandotte — Mariah Wishon and Sidney Arnold
The school, with close to 14,000 students, is the state’s largest charter school and the 14th largest public school district in Oklahoma.
Sponsored by Rose State College in Midwest City, it provides a fully state-accredited, self-paced, individualized education for each student.
Rick Rigsby, a best-selling author and internationally recognized motivational speaker, addressed the graduating students.
“This year’s commencement ceremony was particularly exciting as we welcomed nearly 12,000 guests in support of our graduates,” said Epic superintendent David Chaney, “Looking around the convention center on Saturday, I saw a sea of students who are eager and well-prepared for their future. As an educator, there is no better sight.”
