James A. Mabry, 97, of Miami passed away at home on Saturday, May 5, 2018. He was born on May 24, 1920 in Forrest Park, Ga. to James A. and Ibera (Byfield) Mabry. After graduating High School he joined the Army Air Corp. during World War II. On August 5, 1950 he married his wife Betty at Ottawa Indian Baptist Church. He worked as a Mechanic Inspector for American Airlines for almost thirty-five years. He enjoyed traveling, butter pecan milkshakes and flying. He never met a stranger and always had a smile on his face and loved his family. Mr. Mabry was preceded in passing by his parents James and Ibera and his brothers and sisters B.F. Mabry, Frances Cunningham, Lulu Bea Williams and Monroe Mabry.
Survivors include his wife Betty K. Mabry of the home, her daughters Kathy Amrine of Seattle, Wash. and Jill Shank and her husband Tom of Taos, N.M., eight grandchildren Nicholas Amrine, Patrick Amrine and his wife Kirsten, Ferrin Williams and her husband John, James Coleman and his wife Velvet, Rachel Close and her husband Aaron, John Coleman, Kevin Shank and his wife Amy and Zac Shank.
Visitation will be on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 1 until 2 p.m. The service will follow at 2 p.m. both at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami. Interment will follow at Williams Coal Creek Cemetery.
