Patsy Louise Urban of Commerce, Okla. passed from this life Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at her home. She was 79.
Patsy was born to James and Lavedo (Verde) Emmett, August 28, 1938 in Miami, Okla. She was the oldest of 12 children.
Patsy was a RN from the time she was 18 years old. Working in ER and Hospital settings from Missouri to New Mexico. Moving to the nursing home setting and even Home Health Care after retirement. Pasty cared for and loved many patients throughout her career.
Patsy was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer that had metastasized into her liver. They gave her three months to live. She not only proved them wrong she became one of the few people that survived well past the year. She fought a hard fight for a year, eight months and 29 days. March 19th she was diagnosed with advance Severe Dementia which was accerlated by the chemo. Six weeks and two days later she decided she was ready to go home. Heaven truly gained a loving caregiver that will have everyone on their toes.
Patsy married Richard Urban August 28, 1971. They lived a very full and happy 47 years raising two daughters as well as three grandchildren Tiana Marquez, Angel Forcum and Jay Valverde and great grandson Kaiman Valverde. There was always a house full of kids where they lived.
Patsy is preceded in death by her father James Emmett, mother Laverdo (Verde) Emmett, sisters Betty Arms and Gracie Frisbee, brothers Bill Emmett and Bob Sutton, son Davey Joe Kelly, grandchild Patty Wall and great grandchildren Trey North, Kaimen Valverde and Jakob Forcum.
Patsy is survived by her husband Richard Urban of the home, daughters, Clara Tanner of Wyandotte, Okla., LaDeana Wall of Quapaw, Okla., as well as many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and great great great grandchildren. Patsy was the monarch of a five generation family and dearly loved by many family and friends.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 5, 2018 at 10 a.m. at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home Chapel in Miami, Okla. Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Interment will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla. Jordan Morgan, Houston Vann, Sheldon Sharlow, John Watson, Mike McNeely, and Gary Jimmerson will serve as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Doug Forcum, Jay Valverde Mike McNeely, Kyler Sharlow, Joey Bowling, Mikey Morgan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
