Betty J. Kelly, a lifelong and well respected resident of Miami, Okla., passed away Monday, February 26, 2018 after a long illness. She was 93 years young.

Betty was born October 1, 1924 in Gary, Indiana to Marvin Jarrett and Virginia (Powell) Jarrett. She was a high school graduate. She also attended Business College and received her degree. In 1943, she married the love of her life, Wayland Kelly. She was a lifelong homemaker, dedicating her life to making home the best it could be for her husband and daughter.

She loved shopping for clothes and antiques. She loved her family and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. But, most of all, she found joy in her Lord, Jesus Christ. She loved to worship and did so at the Assembly of God in Miami for many years. Most recently, she attended Sunday school at First Baptist in Miami, and worship and praise services at the Assembly of God in Commerce. She also attended First Christian Church in Miami where she was involved in bible study classes. For many years, she would attend Bible Study Fellowship in Joplin, Mo. on a weekly basis. Her faith was evident to all who knew her.

She was also a member of many clubs and organizations in Miami. She loved meeting with other ladies of the community and working toward making Miami a better place of live. She was a true community servant and a friend to so many.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, and three sisters.

Those left behind to mourn her loss include her daughter, Cassie Mitchell and husband Mike of Oklahoma City, Okla.; two grandchildren, Erinn Daniel of Oklahoma City, and Ryan Mitchell and wife Molly of Norman; two great grandchildren, Annie Daniel of Oklahoma City, and Kelly Beck Mitchell of Norman; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.

Betty’s family is honoring her request that no services be held.
