An arrest has been made in connection with a non-lethal stabbing in Afton Wednesday, Jan. 31.

AFTON – A non-life threatening stabbing resulted in the arrest of a 36-year old Afton man, Mark Dugan. Dugan was arrested for Aggravated Assault & Battery and Destruction of Property, according to Ottawa County Sheriff Jeremy Floyd.

At 7:50 p.m. on Jan. 31 the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call regarding the stabbing in the back of a juvenile male in the area of NW 2nd Street in Afton.

Deputies and investigators arrived at the scene and learned that Dugan, the suspect in the stabbing, had left the scene on foot shortly after the stabbing occurred.

Floyd said the victim had visible stab marks on his back requiring medical attention, but his injuries did not appear to be life-threatening. The victim was treated for his injuries and released.

According to Floyd, law enforcement searched the area for Dugan and located him hiding under a piece of heavy equipment north of the stabbing location.

Dugan was detained and the victim was able to identify his assailant.

After his arrest, Dugan was transported to the Ottawa County Jail.
