Carolyn Jean Barton, age 81 passed away on Monday, January 22, 2018 In Tulsa, Okla. She was born to John and Louise (Falk) Freeman on November 8, 1936 In Commerce. Carolyn had a passion for teaching where she taught Junior High English and Reading for many years, she also was a counselor for the grade school in Chetopa, Kan. She loved to play the piano and was a music director at New Hope Church in Miami, Okla., but her favorite activity was being at home with her grandkids.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents John and Louise.
She is survived by one son John Barton and his wife Judy of Baxter Springs, Kan.; two daughters Marla Barton of Commerce Rena Barton of Miami; three brothers Bill Freeman of Commerce, Jack Freeman of Tulsa, Okla., Mack Freeman of Commerce; one sister Marry Vanover of Denton, Texas; four grandchildren Jeremy Barton of Commerce, Drew Barton of Baxter Springs, Sarah Barton of Baxter Springs, Elizabeth Nino of Commerce, four great grandchildren Ava Acosta of Miami, Olivia Acosta of Miami, Miriam Nino of Miami, Daniel Nino of Miami.
Visitation will be held Thursday January 25 from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Miami.
Funeral Services are Friday January 26 at 10 a.m. at the New Hope Christian Church in Miami. Interment will follow at the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
