Rosemary Grubb Lyman passed away on December 18, 2017 in Tulsa, Okla. She was born on October 14, 1929 in Baster Springs, Kan.
Rosemary grew up in Miami, Okla. and graduated from Miami High School and NEO A&M College. She received a BS in Commerce from Oklahoma A&M College, Stillwater (now Oklahoma State University), in 1954. She was awarded an academic membership in the Phi Kappa Phi Fraternity.
After college, she worked for Atlantic Refining in Dallas and Houston. (now British Petroleum). In Houston, she met Ben Lyman, Jr. who was completing his DDS degree. They were married in 1960. He set up his dental practice in Lubbock, Texas and practiced until shortly before his death in 1989. After his death, Rosemary started volunteering in Lubbock at the Methodist Hospital (now Covenant Health) and did so for 30 years. During that time, she served a term as Auxiliary President and was a member of the Texas State Auxiliary Board. In 2002, Rosemary received the President’s Volunteer Service Award. She was a member of the Friends of the Library, DAR, long time member of St. Christopher Episcopal Church, Lubbock Woman’s Club and her bridge group.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Ben Lyman, Jr.; parents, Murry and Vola Grubb; sister, Elizabeth Ratti; niece, Marcia Hulsizer and Marcia’s daughter, Lyndsey.
Survivors include: sister, Patricia Grubb Goff (Robert Goff) of Tulsa, Okla.; nieces and their husbands; Suzy and Glen Bryan and their daughters Krista and Kaylee of Tulsa, Okla.; Kari and Mark Shea and son, Skyler of San Diego, Calif.; Lori and Eric Moore and children, Mitchell and Mackenzie of Tulsa, Okla.; Marcia Hulsizer’s children, Clint Hulsizer and Derek Kummers and their children of Oklahoma City; nephews, Jim and Steve Ratti, sons of sister Elizabeth, who live in California.
“Aunt Rose” was always there for her family. She was loved and admired.
A graveside Memorial Service will be held in Miami, Okla. at a later date.
