A late night fire in Wyandotte has damaged at least 10 buses in the Wyandotte Public School fleet.

WYANDOTTE – At approximately 10:45 p.m. the Wyandotte Fire Department was called out to respond to a fire at the Wyandotte Public School District's bus barn.

Fairland, Seneca, and Quapaw Fire Departments also responded assisting in bringing the fire under control, which ravaged the facility and destroyed at least 10 school buses in the 15 bus fleet.

No injuries have been reported and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

The State Fire Marshall was on scene Wednesday evening.

WPS has canceled school for the remainder of the week and students are scheduled to be out of school Monday in observance of the Martin Luther King, Jr. holiday.

In response, the Wyandotte Nation Childcare Program will open its facilities from 7:15 a.m. to 5:45 p.m., according to the Wyandotte Nation Police Department. The preschool will be closed.
