MIAMI - A Commerce man, 52-year-old James Renfro, died from injuries he sustained in a collision at 12:08 p.m. on Nov. 17 on State Highway 137, two miles south and three miles east of Miami in Ottawa County.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol's written report, Renfro was driving a 2005 Harley Davidson motorcycle traveling southbound on State Highway 137. For an unknown reason, Renfro departed the roadway to the right and struck several AT&T utility boxes and a fence coming to rest.
Renfro was pronounced dead at the scene from massive injuries sustained in the collision and was transported by Paul Thomas Funeral Home to Miami.
OHP lists the condition of the driver and cause of the collision as unknown and both as under investigation.
The condition of the roadway is listed as dry and the weather as cloudy at the time of the event, and the report indicates a helmet was not in use.
The fatality collision was investigated by OHP Trooper Marcus Murphy assisted by Trooper Dustin Thornton, Lt. Brian McSlarrow, the Wyandotte Nation Police Department, Ottawa County Sheriff's Office, Wyandotte Fire Department and Integris EMS.
