Dr. Lewis Joseph Bamberl, Jr. died Tuesday, Dec. 8, 2015 at Integris Regional Baptist Health Center in Miami, Okla. He was 77.
Dr. Bamberl was born March 28, 1938 in Tulsa, Okla. to Lewis Joseph and Archie Arzora (Karnes) Bamberl. He was a 1956 graduate of Miami High School. He attended N.E. O. A & M College in Miami, the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Okla. and Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine and Surgery in Kirksville, Mo.
Dr. Bamberl started his medical career in Joplin, Mo. in 1963 and then in Miami in 1967 until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Miami, a 50 year member of Miami Lodge No. 140 A.F. & A.M., Tulsa Scottish Rite Consistory, the Tulsa York Rite, Akdar Shrine Temple, and Grand Lake Shrine Club. He had been a member of Miami Rotary Club, Miami Jaycees and Grand Lake Power and Sail Squadron.
He married Elnora Kay Trobough on May 19, 1963 in Trenton, Mo. She survives of the home. Additional survivors include his daughter, Julie Elaine Bamberl of Miami, Okla., his brother, John Bamberl and his wife Kathy of Scottsdale, Ariz. and his grandson Zachariah Bamberl of Miami, Okla.
Dr. Bamberl was preceded in death by his son John Bamberl and his parents.
Dr. Bamberl's wishes were to be cremated. Celebration of Life Services is pending and will be announced at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the grand Lake Shriner’s Crippled Children’s Fund or Integris Baptist Health Center Foundation.
