The City of Miami will hold a liquidation auction Saturday in the Civic Center where surplus property will be sold to the highest bidder beginning at 10 a.m.
Among the items to be auctioned is approximately 130 unclaimed bicycles, several city trucks, cars and vans, a Pelivan transit vehicle, tractors, lawnmowers, brush hogs, office equipment, office supplies, furniture, sports equipment, electronic games, tools, several guns and jewelry.
Surplus merchandise from each city department will be included in the sale.
According to Miami Police Chief Gary Anderson, the police department netted approximately $2,000 last year from the event. The proceeds will be deposited into the city's general fund.
“We made most of the money from the bicycles,” Anderson said. “Because there are so many of them.”
More than 100 bicycles will be auction Saturday.
