William Allen “Bill” Poe of Grove died Saturday, March 15, 2008, at Integris Grove General Hospital. He was 75.
Mr. Poe was born Aug. 18, 1932, in Seligman, Mo., to William Benjamin and Bessie Viola (Martin) Poe. He graduated from Seligman High School.
He served as a corporal in the Army for two years.
He retired from ARA Vending in Kansas City, Mo., in 1977 and retired again in 1995 from Farrier’s Super Center in Grove.
He married Carolyn Handle on June 29, 1997, at Cornerstone Church in Grove. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons, Max Poe and his wife Alice of Joplin, Mo., and Bill Poe of Kansas City, Kan.; two daughters and their husbands, Patricia and Sean O’Rourke of Blue Springs, Mo, and Jackie and Richard Handle-Thompson of Grove; three sisters, Lola Ashburn of Grandview, Mo., Deloris Dabrowski of Spring Hill, Mo., and Sandra Woodard of Springdale, Ark., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and seven sisters.
Services were 10 a.m. today at Grand Lake Family Fellowship in Grove. Pastor James Fuller officiated. Burial was in Zena Cemetery.
The Grove Ritual Team will conduct full military honors.
Pallbearers were Max Poe, Russell Handle, Ryan Handle, Brandon Handle, Tony Plummer and Joe Walters. Honorary pallbearers were Tony Dixon, Garett Handle and Loren Rush.
Arrangements are under the direction of Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home in Grove.
Memorials are suggested to the American Lung Association.
