The Braves won the Ottawa County Youth Baseball 9- and 10-year-old league championship with a record of 9-1-1.
Leading the offense for the Braves was Hayden Woods, who had 23 hits in 28 at-bats. Woods had nine singles, eight doubles, five triples and one home run.
Nicholas Allen (5-0) led the team in strikeouts, averaging six a game. He also had three saves.
Allen also had 18 hits in 26 at-bats with 10 singles, five doubles and three triples.
Gunner Morgan had eight singles, five doubles and four triples. Morgan led the team with 23 stolen bases, including stealing home five times.
Taylor Witham had six singles, 12 doubles and a triple. Taylor also threw out six baserunners while catching for the Braves.
Randy Baumann and Eric Andrade had eight singles and two doubles each.
Daniel Birdsong had three singles and two doubles. Birdsong scored the winning run twice.
Sam Hale and Chanley McClintic each had four singles. Hale and McClintic also provided the defense in the outfield to keep the teams from getting extra base hits.
Josh Combes had two singles and two walk-off doubles that drove in the tying and winning runs.
Hunter Witham had three singles and five stolen bases. Hunter also had two defensive assists while backing up first base.
“Dirk Woods and I would like to thanks the parents for such a great time coaching their kids, who were always at the games and weekend practices,” said coach Jerry Allen.
