Florene Epps died April 16, 2007. She was 79.

Mrs. Epps was born July 17, 1927, in Miami. She moved to the Seattle, Wash., area in 1945 and later to the East Lake Sammamish.

She was a homemaker until the age of 40 when she got a job as one of the first female letter carriers in Seattle. She retired from the postal service after 20 years. She and her husband bought an apartment building that they converted into condominiums. She spent many years volunteering for the PTA, a thriftshop connected to Seattle First Baptist Church and a foundation board for Providence Marianwood in Issaquah, Wash.

Survivors include her husband, Charles; two daughters, Barbara Schaefer of Sammamish and Charnell Jay of Seattle; one son, Kevin Epps of Duvall, Wash., seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Gerty (Dixon) Trask.
