Jo Ann Sweeten of Picher died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at Osborne Care and Rehab in Miami.
She was 78.
Sweeten was born April 1, 1928, in Douthit to Roy and Grace (Herrell) Carr. She lived in the Picher area most of her life. She graduated from Commerce High School in 1946.
She worked as an operator for Southwestern Bell in Picher for several years. She also worked at the DOCS Nutrition Center. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Picher.
She was married to Bill Sweeten. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include three sons, Billy Sweeten of Battle Ground, Wash., Steve Sweeten of Picher and Gregg Sweeten of Pineville, Mo.; two daughters, Barbara Kirk of Excelsior Springs, Mo., and Nancy Coach of Picher, 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of Treece, Kan., with the Rev. Jack Frasier officiating.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home of Picher.
