GROVE - Miami had three players score in double figures leading to a 63-38 thumping of the Grove Ridgerunners Tuesday night.
Cody Corntassel led all scorers on the night with a game-high 19 to lead the Wardogs to the win. Keith Freeman netted 15, all in the first half, and Jake Roberts chipped in with 11 boosting the Wardogs to the road win.
Miami closed out the final four minutes of the first quarter on a 9-2 run thanks to the hot hand of Freeman. The senior hit a pair of 3-point goals and a free throw on his way to a 10-point effort for the quarter to help the Wardogs to 16-8 lead.
Miami got its first double-digit lead of the night after a free throw by Michael Anderson at the 4:24 mark of the second. The charity gave the Wardogs a 22-12 lead.
Miami took off on a 16-3 run from that point producing a 38-18 lead at the break.
The Wardogs kept their 20-point plus lead for most of the third before closing out the Ridgerunners with a 11-5 advantage the final eight minutes.
Corntassel led the second half scoring for the Wardogs, tallying 12 to help keep the Ridgerunners at bay.
Chad Langley led the Birds with 17 in the loss.
