Four of the top 12 money winners in the NGA Hooters Tour have already committed to next month’s Buffalo Run Casino Classic.

As of Monday morning, 40 players had entered, including Ted Potter of Silver Springs, Fla., the tour’s top money winner with $59.609.

The Buffalo Run Casino Classic presented by the Peoria Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma will run June 18-21 at Peoria Ridge Golf Course.

“The Miami stop is a favorite among our NGA staff and the players, because the Buffalo Run Casino and Resort, Peoria Ridge Golf Course and the community of Miami have always given them such a warm welcome,” NGA Tour president Robin Waters said.

This is the eighth year for the Miami tournament, the seventh under the sponsorship of Buffalo Run Casino.

Potter, who has played at the tournament here several times, won the tour’s season opener at Amelia Island, Fla.

He was fourth at Flowery Branch, Ga., and Concord, N.C., was eighth at McCormick, S.C., and tied for 24th at this past weekend’s Sunset Hills NGA Classic at Edwardsville, Ill.

Other money leaders entered are Oscar Alvarez, seventh; Russell Knox, 11th, and Jeff Corr, 12th.

Alvarez was the winner at the Flowery Branch event, the Georgia Sports Orthopedic Specialists Classic at Royal Lakes.

Two sponsor exemptions and six club exemptions will be filled.

Players will begin to arrive on June 15. A qualifying tournament and two pro-am tournaments are part of the events on tap.

The Harbor has been designated as this year’s charity which will benefit from the tournament, according to Buffalo Run Casino manager Steve Bashore.

“The Harbor is making plans for a pre-competition golf scramble to give local golfers an opportunity to ‘play the course of the pros’ which we hope will benefit the organization even more,” Bashore said.

Tournament coordinator Annette Black said there are still a few slots remaining in the pro-am field. Details will be announced in June.
