WYANDOTTE – Doing the bulk of the damage in the final two innings, Wyandotte rolled to a 10-2 victory over Oaks here Thursday afternoon.
The Bears had led only 3-2 heading into the fifth inning, but scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth and added another five in the sixth.
Seth Shuttlesworth, the second of three pitchers used by the Bears, picked up the victory.
Ty Essex gave up both runs in two innings of work. Shuttlesworth threw 3 1/3 innings and Scotty Rotzal got the final two outs in the sixth.
The game ended in the bottom of the sixth after a single to right field by Orrin Ryan drove in Jacob Lux with the Bears' 10th run.
A single by Colton McCloud, a passed ball and a grounder by Andrew Douthit generated Wyandotte's first three runs.
Then in the fifth, Ryan delivered an RBI single and Lux stole home.
McCloud had a two-run single to key the Bears' sixth-inning rally. Lux had an RBI triple and Rotzal doubled home a run. McCloud and Ryan also delivered run-scoring singles.
McCloud went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and three RBIs for Wyandotte.
Ryan and Tate Smith each had two singles. Lux tripled, Rotzal doubled and Terry Wyland chipped in with a single.
Wyandotte hosts Diamond, Mo., Friday at 2 p.m.
