COMMERCE - Eighth grade back Bobby Washington had three touchdowns as Quapaw chalked up a 20-12 victory over Commerce Monday night in a middle school football game here.

The win bumped the Wildcats' record to 6-1 and avenged an earlier 30-24 loss to the Tigers, who also are 6-1.

Washington's third TD, which turned out to be the game winner, came with 2:02 remaining on a 20-yard run.

A run for the conversion failed.

The Wildcats jumped out to an 8-0 lead in the first quarter on a 20-yard run by Washington.

Tyler Beets teamed with Heath Glerup on the conversion.

Commerce got on the board in the second quarter on a 15-yard run by D.C. Chance.

The conversion run failed, leaving the Wildcats with an 8-6 advantage.

Washington tacked on an 8-yard run in the third quarter, but again, the conversion try was stopped. That made the score 14-12.

A 90-yard run by Randy Finan early in the fourth quarter narrowed the gap to two points.

A pass for the conversion was incomplete.

Commerce travels to Ketchum while Quapaw hosts Fairland on Monday. .
