WELCH - The Welch Softball Tournament has expanded to 10 teams and will feature pool play.

Competition starts Wednesday at 1:10 p.m. However, the action gets under way at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and Friday.

The fifth-place game will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, followed by the third-place game at noon. The championship game will be at 1:30 p.m.

The Vinita JV, Foyil, Verdigris, Welch and defending champ Afton will be in Pool A while South Coffeyville, Claremore Christian, Oaks, Oklahoma Union and Ketchum will play in Pool B.

Afton got a run in the top of the eighth to squeeze out a 1-0 victory over Welch. Jakey Dobbs outdueled Kalleigh Chrz to get the win.
