MIDWEST CITY — Miami had three of its four wrestlers place during the final round of the Carl Albert Invitational here Saturday.
Eli Hale, Blaine Fields and Jimmy Brock placed in the tournament that was made up of mostly Class 6A and 5A schools.
“We wrestled pretty well, overall,” Miami coach Josh Bolinger said.
The fourth member of the Miami team making the trip, Jay Mann, won his first-round match by fall but failed to place.
Hale suffered a 4-2 loss to Jacob Lusch of Carl Albert in the 112-pound finals.
Lusch was ranked fourth in Class 5A at 112 by okwrestle.com.
Fields dropped a 7-2 decision to Ada’s Eddie Brown in the 140-pound third-place match.
Brown was sixth in 5A according to okwrestle.com.
Tyler Shaw of Edmond Santa Fe pinned a heartbreaking 1-0 loss on Brock in the heavyweight consolation finals.
Altus, despite only two individual winners, rolled to the team title with 196.5 points.
Harrah was second at 158.5 and Carl Albert wound up third at 143.5.
The Wardogs host Pryor Tuesday night. The middle school match starts at 6 p.m. with the varsity match following.
