WYANDOTTE — Wyandotte used Riverton turnovers to rip off a pair of first half scoring runs on its way to a 51-31 win in high school girls basketball action Tuesday night at the Wyandotte gym.
The Lady Bears used seven first quarter turnovers by the Lady Rams to churn out a 19-7 advantage. Wyandotte closed out the opening frame with a 12-2 run fueling the 12-point lead heading into the second period.
Jesse Stone and Abbi Munson paced the WHS girls with eight and six points, respectively, in the quarter.
In the second, the Lady Bears scored the final nine points to take a 30-12 lead at the intermission. Munson led the second period charge with seven of the 11 points scored by the Wyandotte girls.
The Lady Bears slammed the door on any thoughts of a Riverton comeback with another 9-0 run in the third on their way to a 45-18 lead heading into the final eight minutes of the game.
Kayla Oleman chipped in with six points and Amanda Stovall added five, including a 3-point bucket, to put the game away.
Munson led the scoring for Wyandotte with 13, while Stone netted 12.
Rachel Wilson led the Lady Rams with 10 in the loss.
Wyandotte travels to Afton Friday for a make-up game against the Lady Eagles. Tip-off is slated for 6:30 p.m.
