FORT SMITH, Ark. - Concluding the road portion of their schedule, Northeastern A&M's Lady Norse lost three straight games Wednesday night to the fourth-ranked Division I Arkansas-Fort Smith Lady Lions in the Stubblefield Center.
With the victory the Lady Lions extended their current winning streak to 24 consecutive matches and stand 35-4 on the season.
While dropping their third straight match, coach Eric Iverson's Division II Lady Norse are 11-15 on the year.
Eight sophomore members of the Lady Lions were recognized prior to the last home match of the season. During their two-year stint at UAFS the sophomores had a combined 75-10 record.
The Lady Lions opened the best 3-out-of-5 match with a 30-14 victory in the first game.
The Lady Norse were outscored 13-1 during the first game.
During a 14-1 run in the second game, the Lady Lions cruised to a 30-11 win before starting the third game with a 13-4 run en route to a 30-17 victory.
UAFS picked up several easy points with its serving, collecting 17 aces. Riepl served six aces to lead the Lions.
Freshman Cheryl Steed and sophomore Jamie Crane led NEO with six and five kills, respectively.
Traveling to Lee's Summit, Mo., last Thursday, the Lady Norse lost three straight games to 11th-ranked Division II Metropolitan Community College-Longview.
The Lakers improved to 32-6 on the season after winning the three games by 30-20, 30-11 and 30-17 scores.
NEO will conclude the regular season on Tuesday by hosting Cottey College of Nevada, Mo., in a 6 p.m. match at the Student Activities Center.
