MUSKOGEE — Miami’s Seth Rhodes earned his fourth straight trip to the state golf tournament by placing second individually in 4A regional play here Monday.

Rhodes finished with a 151, shooting a 79 during his first 18 holes at the Cobblestone Creek Golf Club then a 72 on the final round.

The Wardogs missed out qualifying as a team by nine strokes.

They had identical rounds of 338 for a 676 total. Sallisaw claimed the third team spot with a 332-335-667.

Hilldale took first at 314-312-626 and Muldrow was second at 339-320-659.

“I challenged the boys to get in the 330s and they did,” Miami coach John Kurtz said. “We were 20 strokes better than we were all year. I can’t complain.”

Connor Risenhoover posted an 82-86-168 for the Wardogs while Billy Baird shot 90-88-178. Cody Potter had an 87-92-179. Neal McGuire rounded out the MHS scores with a 97-93-190.

The state tournament will be Monday and Tuesday at the Lake Hefner North course in Oklahoma City.
