With their backs to the wall concerning post-season seeding, the Northeastern A&M Golden Norsemen close out the home portion of their schedule today at 8 p.m. against Eastern State College.

Five sophomores will receive special recognition during sophomore night activities. Guards Ross Moore, Chaz Davis, Chase Elliott and Jamere King along with center Carlos Dos Santos will be honored.

Reeling from a two-game losing streak, coach Dustin Grover’s Norsemen are 3-3 in the Eastern Division of the Bi-State Conference and 16-11 overall.

The Golden Norse suffered a 73-69 loss to Carl Albert State College on Monday in the NEO Fieldhouse.

“We’ve got to get some intensity back,” Grover said. “As bad as we’ve played in these last two games, we were still in position to win right up until the end.

“It’s important that we refocus and get ourselves ready for the playoffs,” Grover said. “So that makes these next two games vital.”

Second year head coach Brenton Duncan’s Mountaineers come to Miami with a 1-5 record in the Bi-State East and a 4-19 season mark. The Mountaineers dropped an 81-59 decision to Connors State on Feb. 12 in Wilburton.
