Seven area athletes were additional qualifiers for this weekend’s state track meets.

Miami’s Blaine Lyons and Colby Anderson were added to the field for the 300-meter intermediate hurdles at 4A state meet at Tulsa East Central.

Lyons was fourth and Anderson fifth during regional competition Saturday at Vinita. They had times of 42.02 and 42.10 seconds, respectively.

The top three finishers in each event at the regionals automatically qualify for the state meet. Fourth, fifth and even sixth-place finishers also can qualify if their times or distances are better than the top three at one of the four regionals in each class.

Additional qualifiers for the 2A state meet at Mustang include Zach Barnes of Commerce in the 200-meter dash, Magaly Prado of Commerce in the 100-meter hurdles and Bekky Gebhart in the discus.

Barnes was fourth in the 200 with a time of 24.10 seconds. He was first in the long jump

Prado wound up fifth in the girls’ 100 hurdles with a time of 17.70 seconds. She also had finished third in the 300 intermediate hurdles.

Gebhart had finished fourth in the discus with a throw of 93-0.

Cassie Welch and Carolina Fonseca of Welch were additional qualifiers in the Class A state meet.

Fonseca took first in the 1,600-meter run at the regional at Stroud, which had to be completed on Monday due to a weather delay. She had a winning time of 5:51.00.

She also qualified in the 800 after placing fourth at 2:40.31.

Welch was pulled in after taking fifth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 28.96 seconds.

Rachel Seigel of Welch was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 19.52 seconds.

Miya Martin of Bluejacket placed fifth in the shot put with a throw of 30-5 1/2.

James Root of Welch was sixth in the boys’ 1,600 with a time of 5:18.75.
