Following a brief break for the Thanksgiving holiday, Northeastern A&M's Lady Norse travel to Tonkawa, Monday, for a 6 p.m. contest with the Northern Oklahoma College Lady Mavericks.

With a three-game winning streak in tact, coach Jim Rowland's Lady Norse are 9-2 on the season and 3-0 against teams from the Western Division of the Bi-State Athletic Conference. The Lady Norse defeated Crowder College, 88-47, last Tuesday in Neosho, Mo.

Dean of coaches in the Bi-State, coach Greg Krause has guided the Northern Lady Mavericks to a 3-10 season record and a 1-2 mark against the Bi-State East. The Lady Mavs defeated Fort Scott, Kan., 83-54 last Friday in Tonkawa.

Last season the Lady Norse extended their winning streak to 22 straight over the Lady Mavs.

Sophomore guard Misty Haley sank a free throw with one second left to complete a 17-point rally and lead the Lady Norse to a 67-66 victory over the Lady Mavericks in the opening round of the Women's Division I Region II Tournament. Northern had built a 35-24 halftime lead before NEO's rally.

With the loss the Lady Mavericks finished 16-14 on the season. Haley led NEO with 26 total points while Holly Hardin tallied 21 points for Northern.

Erupting for 54 points in the second half, the Lady Norse cruised to an 86-58 victory in the first regular season game over the Lady Mavericks. Megan Fraley, Nolisha Markham and Tosha Hedgecourth each scored 18 points to lead NEO while Carletta Hernandez paced the Lady Mavs with 15 total points.

Generating 24 points off 22 turnovers, the Lady Norse defeated the Lady Mavericks 84-53 in the second regular season game in the Student Activity Center. Haley and Autumn Thompson combined for 16 points each to lead NEO while Hernandez scored 15 points to lead the Lady Mavericks.

Freshman Carla McKinney and sophomores Fraley and Kali Bassett comprise the Lady Norse backcourt.

McKinney (5-4 of Desoto, Texas) is averaging 2.9 points with 15 assists and 12 steals.

Fraley (5-7 of Adair) leads the Lady Norse with 53 assists and 18 steals while averaging 14.8 points per game.

Bassett (5-8 of Grove) has a 9.8 scoring mark with 17 assists and seven steals.

With a roster that features five sophomores, the Lady Mavericks will start freshmen LaTisha Rogers and Jordan Upshaw along with veteran Whitnee Kunschik at guards.

Rogers (5-4 of Oilton) is averaging 5.5 points with 27 assists and 20 steals.

Upshaw (5-8 of Mannford) has a 4.1 scoring mark with 19 assists and 16 steals.

Kunschik (5-6 of Cashion) leads the Lady Mavs with 32 assists and 24 steals while averaging 3.5 points per game.

Sophomores Markham and Skye Rees will start inside for the Lady Norse.

Markham (5-10 of Tulsa) is averaging 9.2 points and 6.5 rebounds per game.

Rees (6-2 of Melbourne, Australia) leads the Lady Norse with a 17.1 scoring average while grabbing 4.1 rebounds per contest.

Freshman Jessica Doty and sophomore Bethany McBride will matchup inside for Northern.

Doty (5-10 of Owasso) leads the Lady Mavs with a 13.1 scoring average and a 5.2 rebounding mark.

McBride (5-11 of Chattanooga, Okla.) has a 5.5 scoring average and a 3.2 rebounding mark.
