SHAWNEE — Three-time defending champion and ninth-ranked Northern Oklahoma College-Enid received the top seed for the Women’s Division I Region II Tournament scheduled to begin Monday.

First round action in the 11-team single elimination tournament starts Monday night at the court of the team with the highest seed. The tournament quarterfinals will be played Thursday at the Noble Complex on the campus of Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee.

Coach Scott Morris’ Lady Jets won the Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season title with a 17-1 record. The Lady Jets are 27-3 overall entering the regionals.

Last season, the Lady Jets finished fourth in the National Junior College Athletic Association National Tournament in Salina, Kan. NOC-Enid finished 29-7 overall.  

Northeastern A&M’s Lady Norse enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed.

Coach Jim Rowland’s Lady Norse defeated Seminole 48-42 Thursday in the NEO Fieldhouse top finish 12-6 in the conference and 20-9 on the year. 

"We took Friday and Saturday off and we’ll bring them back Sunday around 8:30 p.m.," Rowland said. "We’re just going to spend the first couple of practices working on our shooting and a little on our conditioning.

"The main thing for us going into the post season is that we’ve got to shoot the ball better," Rowland said. "We’re going to work hard this week on executing a little better on offense."

Games scheduled for Monday will find No. 6 seed Northern Oklahoma College-Tonkawa (10-8 and 15-15) entertaining No. 11 seed Arkansas Baptist College (21-8) in Tonkawa; No. 7 seed Redlands College (5-13 and 13-16) playing No. 10 seed Eastern State College (4-14 and 9-20) in El Reno and No. 8 seed Western State College (5-13 and 8-17) hosting No. 9 seed Carl Albert State College (4-14 and 11-17) in Altus. All three games start at 7 p.m.

Quarterfinal games on Thursday start at 1 p.m. in the Noble Complex at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee. No. 4 seed Murray State College (11-7

and 17-10) battling No. 5 seed Connors State College (10-8 and 17-12).

The Lady Norse face the winner of the Redlands-Eastern game at 3 p.m. Thursday followed by No. 3 seed Seminole State College (12-6 and 18-8) vs. the NOC-Tonkawa-Arkansas Baptist winner at 6 p.m.

Top seeded NOC-Enid concludes the quarterfinals at 8 p.m. against the Western-Carl Albert winner.

Semifinal games will be played at 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday with the championship game slated at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Winner of the Region II Tournament advances to the National Junior College Athletic Conference National Tournament, March 20-24, in Salina, Kan.
