VINITA — The Lucky 7 Conference will be well represented at this weekend’s Class 2A state track meet at Mustang.
Six individuals turned in first place finishes and the Afton boys’ 4x100-meter relay team also hit gold during regional competition here Saturday.
Ryan Nowlin of Quapaw qualified in four events. He won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 42.59 seconds and was second in the 110 high hurdles (16.14 seconds) as well as the 100 and 200.
Nowlin had a times of 11.29 and 23.76 seconds in the two sprint finals. His time of 11.16 seconds was second in the preliminaries behind Afton’s T.J. Korb, who has qualified in three events with first-place finishes.
Korb nipped Nowlin in both the 100 and 200 with times of 10.95 and 23.14 seconds.
Korb also ran the first leg on the Eagles’ winning 4x100-meter relay team that had a time of 45.56 seconds. He was joined by Ryan Markes, Brennan Fuser and Tye Turley.
Afton coach Zach Gardner also was hoping that the Eagles’ 4x400 relay team — Shorty Bensley, Turley, Fuser and Korb — would be pulled in as a wild card entry. They finished fifth at 3:50.44.
They won’t know until Tuesday since the 2A regional at Stroud was postponed by a storm.
The Wyandotte girls have a pair of triple qualifiers — Alex Lyons and Felicia Stone.
Lyons won the 400 in 1:01.40 and ran the second leg of their 4x200 relay and anchored the 4x400 relay team.
Stone, Lyons, Jessica Staggs and Kayla Oleman had a time of 1:56.83 while Kristen Enyart, Jennifer McCloud, Stone and Lyons were timed in 4:35.89.
Stone also qualified in the 100-meter hurdles by placing third with a time of 17.46 seconds.
