KETCHUM - Welch collected five hits and had several other baserunners, but was unable to take advantage during a 9-0 loss to Ketchum here Thursday.

"I'm pretty happy for the first game," Welch coach Billy Willard said. "Ketchum is a pretty good ballclub. We just need to get a few more games under our belts."

Ketchum jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the second inning, then erupted for four runs in the third.

The Warrior got a single run in the fourth and scored a final three times in the sixth inning.

Chance Harris had a triple and single while Mike Schultz collected two singles. He also walked once.

Austin Riley contributed a single and a walk.

Asa Chenoweth started on the mound for the Wildcats. He worked 2 1/3 innings, striking out one while walking one and hitting two batters. He allowed five runs.

Garrett Nair finished up, yielding four runs. He fanned two and walked one.

Welch is at Quapaw Tuesday.
