COFFEYVILLE, Kan. — Senior Paige Radford nailed a 3-point goal from the top of the key at the buzzer to give Quapaw’s girls a 42-39 victory over Parsons, Kan., in the consolation finals of the 37th annual Interstate Classic.

The Lady Wildcats had used a 14-5 rally to create a 37-37 deadlock at the end of regulation.

Quapaw had led just one other time throughout the game, which tipped off at 10 a.m.

“We were dragging around for a while,” Quapaw coach Rod Graves said. “We didn’t shoot the ball real well.”

The Lady Wildcats converted on 13 of 37 shots (35 percent) from the field.. They were 9 of 25 from 2-point range.

Parsons jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the first quarter then rolled into the break with a 19-10 advantage.

Each team scored 13 points in the third quarter.

Radford finished with a game-high 19 points while Halie Judd chipped in with nine.

Radford and Judd were named to the all-tournament team and Radford was honored as the most inspirational player of the tournament.

Quapaw' girls rolled to a 38-17 victory over Coffeyville, Kan., in a consolation game Friday.

Quapaw’s boys dropped a 47-36 decision to the Wichita (Kan.) Defenders late Friday.

The Lady Wildcats received 13 points from Halie Judd and seven from Caitlin Miller.

Others scoring for Quapaw were Katie King and Paige Radford with four each, Keesha Liles with three, Crystal Roher, Alyssa Ball and Sierra Burkybile with two each and Alexa Chapa with one.

Abbie Kritz scored five points and Lauren Cox added four for the Lady Tornado, who were playing twice in one day to fill a gap in the schedule when a team pulled out late in the week.

Cory Scott had nine points to lead the way for the Quapaw boys in their game with the Defenders.

Austin Blackmon and Tyler Bacon tallied seven points each, followed by Colton Sappington with four, Curtis Bacon and Derek Lee with three each, Justin King with two and Guthrie Murray with one.
