GROVE - Miami jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the second inning, then glided to a 7-4 victory over Grove in a junior high American Legion baseball game here Wednesday afternoon.

Post 147, which had beaten Salina 9-3 on Tuesday, hosts Joplin, Mo., and Neosho, Mo., in a round-robin tournament starting today.

Miami faces Joplin at 11 a.m. Joplin and Neosho tangle at 1 p.m., then Post 147 battles Neosho at 3 p.m. The schedule for the final round will be announced.

Post 147 took advantage of two errors, three walks and a single by Tyler Perry to break out to the early lead against Grove.

Grove got one of the runs back in the bottom of the second, but Miami generated its final three runs in the fourth.

Perry, A.J. Gambill and Kyle Jolley had two singles each to lead the offense for Post 147.

Josh Arnold and Spencer Neal added singles.

Neal and Braden Walker split pitching duties for Miami, with Neal getting the win.

Miami jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning, then fell behind when Salina got all three of its runs in the top of the second.

Post 147 came back to tie the game in the bottom of the second, then broke the game open with a six-run rally in the fourth.

The Spoonbills sent 12 batters to the plate in the fourth. The key blow was a bloop hit by Jolley that landed between second and right field, allowing three runs to score.

Jordan Plott and Neal also had singles in the inning, which saw Post 147 also have two hit batters (Perry and Spencer Neal) and three walks (two by Ty Mercer and one by Sam Neal).

Plott had a double and single to head up the six-hit Post 147 attack. Perry, Arnold, Jolley and Sam Neal chipped in with a single each.

Salina had four hits, all against Walker, who also yielded all three runs. Sam Neal threw a perfect two innings, retiring all six batters he faced. Walker struck out one and walked one while Neal had two strikeouts and no walks.
